In 2004, the Civico Museo Bibliografico Musicale was renamed Museo internazionale
e biblioteca della musica di Bologna.
The Institute is presently divided into two sites: an ample selection of
volumes, paintings, and musical instruments is on display inside the museum
halls in Strada Maggiore 34 (Palazzo Sanguinetti), while the majority of
bibliographic material is available in the library in Piazza Rossini 2 (the
ex-Convent of San Giacomo), a palace including also the G.B. Martini Conservatory
of Music.
It is within walking distance from the central railway station and the
bus station (about 2 km):
Take via Indipendenza from Piazza delle Medaglie d'oro until you get to
Piazza Maggiore. Turn left on via Rizzoli and go ahead until you arrive
at Piazza Ravegnana, which is exactly under the Two Towers. Continue on
via Zamboni until you arrive at Piazza Rossini, number 2.
By ATC buses: number 50, bus stop in via Benedetto XIV; numbers 25 and
27, bus stop in via Rizzoli.
By car: there is an underground parking in Piazza VIII agosto, continue
on foot or by bus.
