In 2004 the Civico Museo Bibliografico Musicale assumed the new
name Museo internazionale e biblioteca della musica di Bologna.
The institute is divided into two parts: a vast selection of volumes, paintings,
musical instruments are exhibited in the museum at Strada Maggiore 34
(palazzo Sanguinetti), while the majority of the bibliographic material,
waiting to be transferred, is available for consultation at Piazza Rossini
2 (the former Convent of San Giacomo), in rooms annexed to the Conservatory
of Music G.B. Martini.
As of February 1st 2011, photocopy and digital reproduction services
have been reorganized and are managed directly by the staff of the museum.

>complete program
The catalogue
of the musical instruments of the Museo internazionale e biblioteca
della musica di Bologna is online. The project has been realized thanks
to the intervention of the Istituto
per i Beni Artistici, Culturali e Naturali dell'Emilia Romagna.
The catalogue contains files related to the musical instruments actually
exhibited and conserved by the Museo della musica, while those still conserved
at the Museo Civico Medievale are still being catalogued.
The research
queries of the IBC catalogue have recently been modified: links directed
to single collections no longer exist. For a quick selection of only the
museum's collections we suggest you directly search the files
of the catalogue IBC dedicated to the Museo
internazionale e biblioteca della musica and select VOCE SCHEDE
OA (92) under the menu on the right side of the screen entitled Banche
dati collegate.
In collaboration with the Dipartimento
di Storie e metodi per la conservazione dei beni culturali of the University
of Bologna - based in Ravenna, a project of digitization and indexing
of librettos for italian music first produced between 1770 and 1830 has
been started.
The completion of the project, which expects the digitization of 1483 librettos
(consult the list),
is scheduled for 2011. As of now the first 500 librettos are available,
all from the 1700's.
For librettos not yet digitized, the images will be consultable on Gaspari
On Line.
The new section Research support has been added to the left menu,
with two new pages to facilitate research inside the library.
On the page Strumenti
di supporto alla ricerca, information about the catalogues and various
indexes, antique classifications and correspondences beyond a general bibliography
about the library are available.
On the other hand, all the projects in progress of digitization and the
documents already consultable online (Progetto Corago sui libretti d'opera,
Antologie a stampa XVI-XVII sec., Q.15, Manoscritti liturgici, Epistolario
martiniano, Digitalizzazione del microfilm etc.) are available on the
page entitled Documenti
online.
Gesualdo
online, the first subproject - starting from scans of microfilms
- of the digital collections of the Museo della musica, is available on
the Gaspari online catalogue. Gesualdo online, starting from the prints
of Carlo Gesualdo di Venosa which are conserved at the Museo internazionale
e biblioteca della musica di Bologna, will bring more relevant works to
the enormous bolognese musical collection.
